Come Sail Away history
Instead of dying, Natsuno ended up on a haunted ship run by a mysterious entity called the Captain. Passengers were to be tormented so their suffering would fuel the ship, but hey, they had all the amenities a luxury cruise can offer between horrors! From the moment he arrived, Natsuno's goal was to uncover the ship's secrets, ruin whatever plans the captain had and find a way out - preferably by burning the entire dimension down. This sentiment only increased when the first shore excursion turned out to be a Battle Royale, where Natsuno witnessed people he befriended get slaughtered and ended up as the winner despite his attempts not to play.

For the next two years he's been through more horrors, uncovered some secrets, allied himself with a group of passengers who wanted to take down the captain and died several times. The revelation that all passengers were actually copies of their original selves (who continued existing in their home worlds) hardly fazed him, as he was already dead and had nothing to return to. On a more positive note, he's gained a tightknit group of friends, found an adult he could actually trust and even got a girlfriend. These bonds helped shift his motivation from achieving the sweet release of death to finding another reality where he could live freely. Burning the entire ship down still sounded good, though.

In the end, Natsuno helped send a distress call beyond the ship's dimension. It was answered by a letter from a mysterious stranger who promised to free them if they just put a string around the captain's neck. Natsuno's best friend used the string, which enslaved the captain and got everyone else imprisoned by the mystery stranger - a woman who wanted to turn them into museum exhibits or trade them for better ones. This was not what he hoped for, but what's done is done, and now they need to focus on escaping.

Canon powers:
*Note: shiki (“corpse-demon”) is the canon name for vampires.
Natsuno is a “jinrou”, a rare subspecies of shiki. Where shiki are undead, jinrou don’t die after they’re bitten, but enter a death-like coma during which they transform. They breathe, have a pulse and aren't harmed by sunlight.

Powers:
- Blood is optional: unlike shiki who must consume human blood to survive, jinrou can eat normal food.
- Heightened senses: sharpened eyesight and hearing, night vision, a keen nose.
- Physical prowess: strength and speed that exceed both human and regular shiki (unlocked when they drink blood)
- Invulnerability: shiki don’t age, their injuries heal in minutes and they are immune to disease, poison and drugs. The only way to kill them is to destroy their circulatory system, usually by decapitation or a stake to the heart.
- Hypnosis: shiki can control anyone they bite. This works only for the first one to attack, making the victim resistant to other shiki’s control (will only be used with player permission and effects will fade after 1 IC day).

Weaknesses:
- Instinctive fear of religious symbols.
- Invitation: can't enter a dwelling without an explicit invitation from a resident (ICly, Natsuno will be able to access common areas but would need an invitation to go into rooms. Said invitation would expire if the character drops).
- Can’t use his super strength and speed without drinking human blood.

Come Sail Away:
- Proficient with hand guns
- Knows the most lethal and/or painful places to stab someone
- Gained minor sun powers after injecting himself with liquid sun magic. He can create miniature suns (non-lethal but will give bad sun burns and hurt your eyes), spit sun flares and heat surfaces with touch.
- Benevolent Ruination aka a cool Nier magic sword he can summon and dismiss at will. Natsuno has no sword fighting skills but it shoots light when he swings it around.

Other skills
Natsuno is intelligent and observant, makes a decent amateur detective and excels at keeping calm under pressure. He likes to think nothing can surprise him anymore after two years on a horror ship, and while his perspective has widened considerably I'm sure Etraya has much to shock him with.

personality:
In Natsuno’s own words: "I know I don't have a likable personality". He's cold, aloof and resents just about everything in his life: his hipster parents, his girly first name and most of all Sotoba, the small village he was forced to move to. He especially despises how the villagers’ force their expectations on others with no regard to their wishes. Natsuno makes a point of not integrating in Sotoba and even his relationship with Tohru, who becomes his best friend, starts because Tohru is too stubborn and Natsuno too apathetic to keep pushing him away. He rarely bothers to change his behavior to accommodate others, often coming off as rude. Natsuno is the kind of person who refuses a dead girl’s memento on her funeral and then ditches the burial. Sure, stalked him and he hated her, but most people would be more polite in these circumstances. Tact? Basic social etiquette? Half the village watching you act like a complete ass? Natsuno couldn’t care less.

Natsuno is observant and intelligent. He’s the first to realize vampires have invaded the village, and later helps plan the humans’ counterattack, proving himself vital for its success. His cold nature helps him keep calm even as supernatural horrors unfold around him, and he’s brave enough that the shiki consider him a threat. He keeps investigating them despite the risk, only stopping when he finds out that his best friend Tohru becomes one of them. Natsuno can’t bring himself to hurt him and loses all will to fight - he asks Tohru to run away with him and when that fails, lets Tohru feed on him until he dies.

Which brings us to who Natsuno is deep down: loyal to a fault. Besides Tohru there are also Kaori and Akira, two siblings Natsuno befriends after Tohru’s death. After he’s bitten, his first action is to tell them to stay away from him and try to force them to leave Sotoba, in order to protect them. He keeps an eye on them even after he turns into a shiki, thus saving their lives. Natsuno doesn’t connect with others easily, but once he does they earn a caring, trusted friend. He isn’t concerned with the bigger picture, but will go to extreme lengths for a goal he believes in or someone he cares about.

After turning, Natsuno becomes even colder, ruthless and emotionally detached. His only goal is to destroy all shiki - himself included. When asked why he sides with humans over “his own kind,” he answers: “I’m not on their side. I just don’t like YOU.” He’s made peace with dying, but they took his choice away - and be they his parents or a vampire coven, Natsuno Yuuki will not conform to anyone’s expectations other than his own.

Come Sail Away: after two years in the game, Natsuno has become less detached. Most people back home failed him for different reasons, but the friends he made on the ship were willing to sacrifice as much as he did and had the power to back it up. Their acceptance and love made him realize he can have a life, even as a vampire. He wants to be free from other people’s expectations, but no longer thinks he can only get it by dying. However, he is still willing to burn everything to the ground for his friends or a goal he believes in.
